We are Elliot's Footprint
We are a charity that helps families through child bereavement.
We offer help and guidance whilst campaigning and fundraising for improved bereavement services.
We are working hard to take the loneliness and frustration out of the systems and processes that families face in the aftermath of losing a child.
The charity is a legacy to Elliot who died unexpectedly aged 2 years 9 months old in March 2013.
A critical gap has emerged in statutory support for families in Leeds following the Sudden Unexpected Death of an Infant or Child (SUDIC).
Until April 2026, bereaved families in Leeds had access to a dedicated Bereavement Support Worker through a charity partnership supported by Elliot's Footprint. Following a restructuring decision by our charity partner, this role no longer exists.
As a result, Leeds has lost its named key worker provision, leaving families facing the devastating and traumatic loss of a child without a consistent point of contact to guide them through complex investigations, services, and support systems at one of the most difficult times in their lives.
On 27 May 2026, Elliot's Footprint launched the Holding Leeds Through Loss campaign. The campaign seeks to bring together statutory agencies, healthcare providers, charities, and community partners to develop a sustainable solution that enables Leeds to meet its statutory obligation to provide a named key worker for families affected by SUDIC.

As part of our new campaign we present a touching film where families movingly share their experiences with the profound impact of losing a child to SUDIC. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the families for their bravery in sharing their stories and to Sam Teale Productions for creating such a sensitive and impactful film. We encourage you to watch these moving testimonies, and if you're interested in joining our campaign to foster collaboration among agencies and communities to provide the care, consistency, and support families need , please reach out to us.
On the 21 September we are holding a roundtable event co hosted with MP Alex Sobel to bring together a range of professionals and families to improve SUDIC support across Leeds. You can join our conversation by sharing your experience and be part part of the solution. We invite you to our free event to determine how Leeds can meet its statutory obligation to provide a named key worker to support families following the unexpected death of their child.
Together we can make Leeds a place where no family has to suffer alone the unexpected death of a child. By working collectively, we can ensure that no bereaved family faces this journey alone and that compassionate, coordinated support is available when it is needed most.
Please join us on Monday 21st September to make change happen.
