Support for Mother's Day

Updated: Mar 3, 2023

We know some days the grief feels a little easier to deal with and that other days it can really hit you hard.

Like anniversaries, special days and birthdays, Mother’s Day can be one of the tough days for any parent.

And it is completely natural to grieve or feel any way you want to feel on the day.

For any friends of bereaved parents, being there and sending a text to see if they’d like to talk, be kept busy or left alone can always help to let parents know that they have support and someone thinking of them.

You may be unsure how to pass or cope with Mother’s Day, remember to put yourself first and take the day as you would like to and what feels best for you. A Child of Mine has a helpful list of ideas for what to do if you would like to mark the occasion. (http://www.achildofmine.org.uk/Ideas-for-Birthdays-&-Anniversaries/I97.htm) There is also some more ideas on the Child Bereavement UK site. https://childbereavementuk.org

If you would like support or someone to talk to the Child Bereavement UK Helpline is open from 9am-5pm Mondays to Friday.

You can reach out to their helpline on 0800 02 888 40.

Remember you are not alone and there are places of support out there for you anytime of the year.
